SAAO-UKZN Postdoctoral Fellowship in Extragalactic Astronomy and CosmologyThe Astrophysics and Cosmology Research Unit (ACRU) at the University of KwaZulu-Natal is offering a postdoctoral research position, jointly with the South African Astronomical Observatory (SAAO), in the area of extragalactic astronomy and cosmology. Candidates in theoretical and observational extragalactic astronomy and cosmology are strongly encouraged to apply, particularly those with observational expertise. Members of ACRU have interests in large-scale structure and galaxy evolution, the cosmic microwave background and theoretical cosmology. There are opportunities to participate in the Atacama Cosmology Telescope project and the Karoo Array Telescope project. The successful candidate will have access to observing time on the Southern African Large Telescope and on all national facilities at the SA Astronomical Observatory and Hartebeesthoek Radio Observatory. The position is for two years with the possibility of extension to three years, and allows for six months per year at SAAO in Cape Town. Starting dates between January 1, 2010 and June 1, 2010 are preferred. A generous allowance will be provided for international travel and research expenses.
